The singer and winner of the Nigerian prize Afro beat Wizkid has marked another milestone in his career. He is now a proud owner of a fashion brand called “Starboy,” which bears the name of the collection after his nickname.
The collection was unveiled in Manhattan, New York. In the presentation, Wizkid not only posed for the frenetic images taken by the fans but also interpreted some of his songs turning the presentation into a concert of some kind.
“For me, when I left my last project, I felt it was time to do something for my fans, so they could have almost a part of me,” Wizkid explained.
The crowd at the inauguration was not only African, but also the presence of other nationalities and races was represented.
The collection includes a Starboy-branded travel jacket bomber and a green and purple gradient t-shirt from Made in Lagos, which is not as striking as perhaps its previous designs.
In his twitter handling, Vogue describes Wizkid as “currently the most popular pop star in Africa in almost any measure”.
For all indications, it seems that their designs will be sold as the Jersey of Nigeria.
